Welcome to Analytical 3D Optical Sensing Laboratory (3DAOS)!
The 3DAOS lab is located at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. We have three major missions: (1) Innovating technologies for accurate high-dimensional data acquisition; (2) developing novel analytics tools to generate insights from 3D data; (3) applying developed 3D optical sensing technologies to different fields. Our research has achieved breakthroughs including the first-ever dense 3D strain measurement technology for robotic flapping wings. The interdisciplinary nature of our research opens up opportunities for research collaborations, including areas such as robotics, advanced manufacturing, materials mechanics testing and so forth.
Aug. 6, 2020, Dr. Li got invited to contribute to the "Emerging Leaders 2021" collection by the journal of Measurement Science and Technology.
Apr. 2020, Congrats to 3DAOS students for winning a series of awards: Vignesh Suresh (COE Research Excellence Award, GPSS Research Award, William and Virginia Binger Research Award); Yi Zheng (William and Virginia Binger Research Award); Amit Singh (COE Teaching Excellence Award).
Mar. 14, 2020, Dr. Li is selected as 2019 SPIE community champion.
Feb. 24, 2020, Vignesh passed PhD preliminary exam, congrats!
